About Me

About DaveHello. My name is Dave and I am the founder of this website. I grew up loving things having to do with horror. The first movie I watched that scared me as a child was “The Exorcist”. I remember feeling terrified but so alive at the same time. My heart was pounding. My mind was racing. But I LOVED IT! I would eat up anything having to do with the supernatural after that. From watching the TV series “Dark Shadows” (and even then covering my eyes as Barnabas would rise from his coffin) to reading almost anything I could get my hands on that had a horror “vibe” to it.

I soon began writing my own original short stories about ghosts and creatures. I’m not afraid to tell you they were crap, but at the time I thought I was a genius. My love for the genre never went away. Through good times and bad, hell or high water, I maintained my attraction to this dark, twisted world of all things horror related.

And now here I am. Starting this humble website and hoping to connect with like minded people. Through this site I hope you can contribute as much as browse. What I like, you may not. That’s okay. I like reading and hearing a dissenting opinion. When I’m not doing this I enjoy playing video games, collecting comic books and generally getting my “Nerd” on with my fellow geeks.

I hope you like what you see and read. Let me know how I’m doing, even if you think it’s terrible. And feel free to interact, contribute, and come back as often as you like. There will be plenty more to see here shortly so stay tuned.

Keep it bloody.

DAVE

  1. Dear Dave,
I am writing to tell you about the Horror Bloggers Guild (HBG). The HBG is a new resource and community for horror bloggers to join forces and do cool things. My vision is to develop an awesome group of the top horror bloggers on the internet in order to make it easy for the internet to find us, create a space for collaboration and swapping tips, and moral support.

Blogging is hard. Bloggers can get discouraged and isolated. Bloggers in general rarely make it past 6 months. I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun and probably would not have continued blogging if I did not meet some other cool bloggers that helped me on my way. New things are on the horizon and I’m game for any idea that comes along.

If you are interested in learning more about the HBR you can check out our site here: http://horrorbloggersguild.weebly.com/

If you would like to join the HBR you can submit your application here:
You can also join the Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/260723900784249/

    Sincerely with slippery intestines,
    izombiheartzoey

P.S. One of the best things about bumping heads with awesome people is great ideas. An awesome blogger named A. Giancomi Suggested that we should make a sacrifice to celebrate the start of the HBR. The August Sacrifice is a choice between Grumpy Cat and Shark Cat. Make Your Choice Here: http://horrorbloggersguild.weebly.com/monthly-sacrifice.html

    • I dig this idea man! A community of horror related bloggers sounds like something the genre needs. Count me in. However, part of the eligibility is to have had an active blog for 3 months. My little site here is just a month old today, so I might have to wait awhile to join. But I bookmarked your page and will submit my application when I have enough time in! Thanks for finding me and visiting. 🙂

  2. HI there Dave! Sounds like we are very like minded as we not only love horror, Lovecraftian stories and are huge geeks. I commented on your facebook page and replied to your private message. I also love the idea of a community of horror bloggers. I do blog about horror stuff, and geek stuff on our blog http://www.comfychairzine.blogspot.com but our primary site, Myth Ink Books http://www.mythinkbooks.com is the home of our Independent Publishing Press where our horror anthologies are listed. Thanks to the dude who posted the HBG info and hopefully we can all connect and share everyone’s work.
    Cheers,
    Anthony

    • Anthony, I couldn’t agree more. If we can’t support each other it would just turn into a competition for visitors and take the fun out of all this. I really enjoy having this website. I love to talk about horror, research the genre, and writing about it. This site is set up as an affiliate website, but I never concern myself too much with the money aspects. I make a few bucks here and there with the ads and stuff, but if I didn’t LOVE the genre, it would be for nothing.

As I said, i would absolutely read any anthology books you want me to review. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! 🙂

    • Thanks Kelly! It was a no brainer when it came time to pick a niche that I would choose horror. I realize it is NOT for everyone, but for those that like it, it’s a lifestyle and they are very dedicated. Appreciate the comment yo 🙂

  3. Wow! This site looks really cool~!
I’m very interested in this genre, and so far, your site is looking pretty awesome ^^

    • Wow! Thanks for the compliment and for stopping by. I post something at least once a day, so I hope you keep coming back! 🙂

      • Absolutely ^^
There is so much to be found with the genre you’re working with, not to mention my brother is a HUGE FAN of it, too. I recently watched a documentary-like horror flick called “Frankenstein’s Army”, and I thought of this site again. I could easily see this place as being like my personal stop for horror <3

        • “Frankensteins Army” was a blast! And you’re right. There’s so much to cover I find it impossible to get to all of it! I try, but time is not on my side most days lol. I could give up gaming, but that’s ridiculous! Thanks again for the kind, awesome words. 🙂

  4. Dave!
So good to see this site! It looks…cool.
Looking forward to reading more stuff! You’ve got an old fan here. 😉

    • MAria! I remember you yo 🙂 It’s so awesome you found your way to my site here. I hope you’re doing well and that you’re still writing like a BOSS! 🙂
