Metal And Lovecraft Fuse With BRETT MILLER

Some combinations just don’t go together. Peanut butter and mayonnaise, vegetables and pizza, me and a healthy relationship, etc. But there’s no denying that the worlds of heavy metal and H.P. Lovecraft are a match made in horror heaven and nothing proves this more than BRETT MILLER and his latest project.

H.P. Lovecraftthemed Music and Art Collaboration
Metal guitarist Brett Miller and scifi concept artist Marcelo Orsi Blanco to launch Kickstarter
campaign for Miller’s 5th record.

Poughkeepsie, NY USA / Buenos Aires, Argentina
Guitarist / composer Brett Miller and artist Marcelo Orsi Blanco announce the release of three
demos from their upcoming Kickstarter campaign, “Oath of Dagon”. Reflecting the two artists’
lifelong obsession with the work of weird fiction author H.P. Lovecraft, the project is a fulllength
instrumental guitar record with accompanying works of art.

“Musically, I’ve been inspired by Lovecraft ever since I was 12 at Berklee College of Music I
even wrote a piece for string quartet called ‘The Tomes of H.P. Lovecraft’ so it’s a lot of fun to
finally go ‘all in’ and make an entire record based on his work”, says guitarist Brett Miller. “And
collaborating with Marcelo who’s contributing the best Lovecraftinspired artwork I’ve ever seen
has made it even more fun and exciting!”

And what about those three songs available right away?

“We’ve got three demos available right now for people to listen to and download for free:
‘R’lyeh’, ‘Old Zadok Allen’, and ‘Dunwich Horror’. I’ve gotten some great feedback so far about
them, both from fans of prog metal, and fans of Lovecraft and a lot of people fall into both
categories, by the way. We’ve also got a really cool ‘Esoteric Order of Dagon’ membership
certificate designed by Marcelo, that people can print out and personalize…and don’t worry, we
won’t even make you take the Third Oath!”

While details about the full project are being kept secret until the Kickstarter campaign is
officially launched, members of the Esoteric Order of Dagon will receive goodies and updates
leading up to the launch, reserved only for initiates of the Order. Metal and Lovecraft fans can
check out the songs and become cult members by visiting BRETT MILLER MUSIC

Project FAQs

A: We’ll be hitting the “Go!” button in the middle of August; we chose that date because the
NecronomiCon convention in Providence, RI will be going on at the end of that month so it just
makes everything more fun and Lovecraftian.

A: Email, Skype, Trello, and Google apps our communications technology isn’t quite as
advanced as that of the MiGo, but it’s getting there. Although, it would be nice to have those
talking brain canisters if Marcelo didn’t speak English as well as Spanish we’d be screwed,
because I’m your typical American that can only speak one language.

A:Mum’s the word until we launch the campaign, but we can say that it will be a metal record
and artwork; however it will be released in a more unique format than your traditional CD or
vinyl. Esoteric Order of Dagon members will be the first to hear dark hints and whisperings
about it though.

A:Lovecraft has always dealt with darker, fringe types of themes forbidden books and rites,
interdimensional interlopers, etc. and metal has always been a darker, fringe style of music.
Prog metal is a style particularly suited for Lovecraftian influence, because while remaining dark
and fringe, it also contains a healthy amount of erudition, craftsmanship, and vocabulary more
so than most other types of metal.
